TO-DIE: Alexander McQueen Fall 2011

So the Fall shows in London and Milan were pretty much bust.  Yes I enjoyed a few of them, but not enough to create a To-Die post on them.  Paris has been pretty good so far, and you're going to get a couple collections within the next few days, but there was certainly one of many high points with Sarah Burton's Fall 2011 collection for Alexander 'Lee' McQueen's fashion house.  This is a great accomplishment for her since last season's collection (her first as head designer after the tragic passing of Lee) was also a wonderful piece of work.  It gives me great comfort to know that his aesthetic, theatricality, and skill are living on with Sarah Burton.  She should be proud.

This season's inspiration was 'The Ice Queen and Her Court'.  Fabulous.  The show was staged at La Conciergerie where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned, and there were even wolves on stage.  Apparently the lighting, sparse decoration, and howling dogs made quite a spectacle for those who were lucky enough to attend.  The clothes are much more decadent and fit the bill perfectly.  A few of my favorites (with some detail and shoe shots!):

Holy Jesus.
That weaving is incredible!
The mosaic on the bodice is made from crushed china!
