Lone Scherfig's An Education was almost my favorite film of last year. If it wasn't for Tom Ford's A Single Man or Jane Campion's Bright Star it would easily have made the top spot. It's a film I find myself returning to frequently because it's just a fun, breezy, entertaining, but also poignant piece of work. Scherfig's next project is the romantic dramedy One Day starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. The film follows them one day a year, for twenty years, after their initial one night stand. It's based on a novel by David Nicholls, and the buzz surrounding the film is bodes well for its prospects. Focus Features seems to have faith in the film since they gave it a great summer release spot of July 18 (very similar to when Inception and The Kids are All Right came out last year). Today Focus revealed the poster and it's a beautiful shot:
Something to look forward to!
